Job summary

Iowa Department of Transportation is seeking a Driver & Identification Service Center Specialist to deliver exceptional customer service in a fast-paced environment. You will assist Iowans with licenses and IDs, explain REAL ID requirements, and administer driving examinations.

Hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with occasional in-state travel. Benefits include health and life insurance, IPERS retirement, paid time off, and opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Three years of full-time clerical or closely related work.
• Three years education and/or full-time experience with college hours equals one year.
• Six months of experience as Driver & Identification Service Center Associate in state executive branch (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Answer phones and issue licenses and IDs.
• Explain license eligibility and REAL ID requirements.
• Administer and score motorcycle, car, truck, CDL pre-trip, skills, and road driving examinations.
• Review state and federal records to determine eligibility for issuance.
• Provide training and mentoring to teammates.
