Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to contribute to the design of process control systems for new power plants and modifications of existing facilities. You’ll prepare specifications, develop P&IDs and I/O lists, and participate in design reviews with travel to client sites as needed.

You will apply I&C engineering principles in project design, collaborate within a team, and expand your knowledge through mentoring and Communities of Practice.

Qualifications

• A BS or MS degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering and a strong academic background in analog and digital control systems is required.
• Ability to apply I&C engineering principles to project design deliverables and technical problem solving.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications, with emphasis on MS Excel and Access.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience working effectively in a collaborative team environment.
• Exceptional work habits.
• Resourceful and enthusiastic attitude.
• Valued but not required: ABET accreditation, FE exam eligibility, and related internship experience.

Responsibilities

• Work on project teams with I&C engineers for design of new power plants and modifications.
• Support design of process control systems and procurement specifications for I&C equipment.
• Develop P&IDs, I/O lists, control panels, and related documentation.
• Participate in Process Hazard Analysis and Design Reviews.
• Travel to client/vendor offices or plant sites for reviews and field verification.
• Mentor and train through sessions and Communities of Practice.
