Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an Instrumentation & Controls Design Engineer in Warrenville, IL for a hybrid role with three days in-office and two remote days. You will design, modify, and analyze control systems for new and existing nuclear power plants, including PLC/DCS, sensors, and interfaces with vendors.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in I&C design, ABET-accredited degree, and a PE license (preferred). You’ll collaborate in project teams, review calculations, and mentor junior engineers

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
• Five or more years of experience in I&C Design Engineering.
• Experience with selection of equipment, control philosophy, and design packages.
• Experience with controls system design for turbines, pumps, data displays.
• PE license is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, modify, and analyze instrumentation and control systems for new and existing power plants.
• Prepare and review detailed calculations, including scaling, uncertainty, and setpoints.
• Interface with vendors to review documents and prepare equipment purchase specs.
• Prepare reports and studies presenting technical information clearly.
• Perform independent reviews of work and mentor less experienced engineers.
• Lead teams using automation and AI to improve workflows and design outcomes.
