Job summary

Leidos Defense Systems is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the Common Hypersonic Glide Body program. You will create and maintain TDP artifacts, apply GD&T, and revise designs for producibility.

You will work with IPTs to support drawings and production, assist with troubleshooting, and participate in RCCA and continuous improvement initiatives. A bachelor’s degree with 2+ years of experience and CAD proficiency are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET accredited institution with 2+ years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency with CAD tools such as Creo, CATIA, AutoCAD, or SolidWorks.
• Experience working within Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) environments.
• Basic understanding of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and tolerance stack-up analysis.
• Understanding of engineering drawings, specifications, and configuration management processes.
• Experience supporting issue resolution in a production environment.
• Willingness to facilitate technical meetings with internal and external stakeholders, including design, peer, and tabletop reviews.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain Technical Data Package (TDP) artifacts, including drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and specifications.
• Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) in accordance with ASME Y14.5 standards.
• Revise existing designs and develop new designs to enhance producibility and process efficiency.
• Collaborate within integrated product teams (IPTs) to support drawing updates and production efforts.
• Support production activities, including troubleshooting mechanical issues and assisting with corrective actions.
• Assist in dispositioning non-conformances and supporting root cause and corrective action (RCCA) activities.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
• Independently manage tasks and projects with guidance from senior engineers.
