Job summary

Leidos Defense Systems is seeking a talented Mid-Level Mechanical Engineer to join the Hypersonics line of business. The role focuses on leading mechanical design for hypersonic vehicle subassemblies and coordinating with external partners.

You will work on design reviews, tolerance analyses, and producibility considerations, while applying GD&T per ASME Y14.5 and interfacing with cross-functional teams across the program lifecycle.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering degree with 4+ years relevant experience or Master’s with 2+ years.
• Master’s degree with 2+ years relevant experience or high school diploma with 8+ years relevant experience.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD tools and PLM environments.
• Knowledge of GD&T per ASME Y14.5 and tolerance analysis.
• Strong communication and collaboration with internal/external partners.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical engineering activities for hypersonic vehicle subassemblies.
• Develop mechanical components and assemblies for hypersonic missile systems.
• Coordinate requirements with external partners and ensure design adherence.
• Serve as primary technical interface for external design partners.
• Develop and track engineering plans, schedules, and risk mitigation.
• Manage mechanical interfaces between subassembly and subsystems.
