Job summary

Leidos Defense Systems is seeking a Mid-Level Mechanical Engineer to join the Hypersonics line of business. The role involves leading mechanical activities for a hypersonic vehicle subassembly and coordinating designs for advanced missile systems.

You will interface with external partners, develop plans, manage data packages, and perform tolerance analyses while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure manufacturability and producibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering from ABET-accredited program with relevant experience.
• DoD security clearance (Active SECRET) or ability to obtain one.
• Proficiency with CAD/PLM tools and GD&T per ASME Y14.5.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical engineering activities for hypersonic vehicle subassemblies.
• Coordinate design and development of components for advanced missile systems.
• Interface with external partners, ensuring clear technical requirements.
• Develop engineering plans, track progress, and report risks to leadership.
• Coordinate TDP artifacts including drawings and BOMs.
• Perform tolerance analyses and GD&T verifications.
• Support prototype fabrication, assembly, and testing activities.
• Collaborate across disciplines to mature mechanical designs.
