Job summary

Leidos Defense seeks a Mechanical Engineer to support the CHGB Thermal Protection System for hypersonic vehicles. This role spans design, analysis, and production support within a DoD-focused team in the United States.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering degree with 2+ years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency with CAD tools: Creo, CATIA, AutoCAD, SolidWorks.
• Experience in PLM environments.
• Basic GD&T knowledge (ASME Y14.5) and tolerance stack-up analysis.
• Understanding of drawings, specifications and configuration management.
• Experience supporting production issue resolution.
• Ability to facilitate technical meetings with stakeholders.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking and problem-solving.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Self-starter, able to work independently or in teams.
• Proficiency with MS Office.
• Ability to obtain DoD Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain Technical Data Package artifacts (drawings, BOMs, specs).
• Apply GD&T per ASME Y14.5 standards.
• Revise designs and develop new ones for producibility and efficiency.
• Collaborate with IPTs to support drawing updates and production.
• Support production activities and troubleshoot mechanical issues.
• Dispositon non-conformances and support RCCA activities.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
• Independently manage tasks and projects with guidance from senior engineers.
