Job summary

GEI Consultants, Inc. in Virginia seeks a Senior Engineer/Practice Leader with civil, geotechnical, geostructural and/or water resource expertise to drive technical leadership and market expansion in the Water Resource sector for Western Virginia.

The role combines project leadership, staff mentoring, and cross-office collaboration with a hybrid work model and regular travel to Charlottesville and regional offices.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil, Structural or Geotechnical Engineering; MS preferred.
• 12+ years progressive experience in Civil/Structural/Geotechnical engineering with at least 10+ years in a project management role.
• Professional Engineering license required.
• Ability to support federal, state and local agencies in the Eastern US.
• Demonstrated entrepreneurial attitude with a track record of generating new work and growing a business segment.

Responsibilities

• Lead growth within the Water Resource market of Western Virginia and surrounding areas, with focus on service cross-selling.
• Maintain high visibility in the marketplace via client contacts, professional organizations, and industry events.
• Manage projects and staff with technical leadership, construction management, risk management, and mentoring.
• Provide technical assistance and project management for dams, levees, and water control structures within geotechnical, construction management, or water resource engineering.
• Assist in recruiting and training additional staff; serve as a leadership role model for GEI's culture and values.
• Overnight travel 10–20%.
