Job summary

GEI Consultants, Inc. seeks a Practice Leader for Geotechnical Engineering, Water Resources, Engineering and Civil Engineering to drive growth in the Richmond and Charlottesville markets, reporting to the Washington, DC area Branch Manager.

You will lead technical projects, manage budgets, mentor staff, and build client relationships. You will guide proposals for public and private RFPs and promote GEI branding across the practice while upholding safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Successful track record as a Seller-Doer with strong client relationships and business development capability.
• Senior Leader respected for technical capabilities and having strong risk and engineering contract management experience.
• Ability to identify and lead engineering project opportunities in the region.
• Collegial team builder with excellent leadership skills.
• Broad understanding of the Richmond area needs, opportunities, and emerging trends.
• Experience supervising/leading/mentoring and growing staff.

Responsibilities

• Manage projects both financially and technically.
• Identify and attract business development opportunities within practice; identify key clients / business areas, growth strategy, and capture strategy.
• Lead proposal efforts responding to both public and private RFPs.
• Partner with marketing and others to develop GEI “branding” within practice.
• Enhance the professional development and skill set of staff within the practice and be a resource to them.
• Manage and mentor junior staff both technically and professionally.
• Actively participate in professional, industry, and policy groups to foster client relationships within the geotechnical engineering, water resources, and civil engineering practice/market.
• Ensure that GEI’s health and safety (H&S) culture and GEI’s quality processes are followed.
