Job summary

ABB in the United States is seeking a VFD Support Specialist to deliver expert technical assistance to ABB customers, field technicians, and internal teams. The role combines technical troubleshooting with customer-facing support in a hybrid setup.

Based in New Berlin, WI or remote nationwide, you will help with drive programming, configuration, commissioning, and warranty-related activities while documenting cases accurately for ongoing knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 4 years of electrical/technical experience OR associate's degree with 6 years of experience OR high school diploma with 8 years of experience in electrical/technical roles.
• Knowledge of how Variable Frequency Drives work is REQUIRED.
• Strong understanding of electrical principles and troubleshooting drives.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing; proficient with computers.
• Must have U.S. work authorization to work for ABB in the US.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support via phone and email for Low Voltage VFD applications, assist customers and field techs with commissioning and warranty evaluations.
• Assist customers with drive programming, parameter configuration, communication, and integration with control systems.
• Collaborate with engineering, field service, sales, and product teams to resolve complex issues.
• Coordinate with the warranty team to initiate warranty replacements and labor authorizations.
• Maintain detailed documentation of support cases and solutions using Salesforce Case Management and other tools.
• Stay current with VFD technologies, software updates, and industry trends.
