Job summary

ABB in the United States seeks a Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) Support Specialist to provide technical support to customers, field techs, and internal teams. The role covers VFDs, 3-phase power, system wiring, and connectivity, with a hybrid/remote model in the US and New Berlin, WI.

You will assist with drive programming, troubleshooting, documentation, and warranty processes, collaborating with multiple teams to resolve complex issues while staying current on VFD technology trends.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 4+ years of relevant electrical/technical experience, or an associate's with 6 years, or a high school diploma with 8 years of experience.
• Knowledge of how Variable Frequency Drives work is required.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbal and written, and be computer-literate.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support via phone and email for Low Voltage VFD applications, including commissioning, troubleshooting, and warranty evaluations.
• Assist customers with drive programming, parameter configuration, and integration with control systems.
• Collaborate with engineering, field service, sales, and product teams to resolve complex technical issues.
• Collaborate with the warranty team to initiate warranty replacements and labor authorization.
• Maintain detailed documentation of support cases and solutions using Salesforce Case Management and other tools.
• Stay current with VFD technologies, software updates, and industry trends.
