Job summary

Apex Engineering Group is seeking an Engineering Technician to provide CAD drafting and field support for transportation projects. This hybrid role offers flexible office locations and opportunities to work on highway, urban roadway, and municipal designs.

The position emphasizes applying civil engineering fundamentals, team collaboration, and on-site responsibilities as needed, including potential RPR duties during construction.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• An Associate Degree in Engineering Technology or related technical degree is highly desirable.
• 2–5 years of experience preferred.
• Proficient in AutoCAD/Civil-3D, Bentley OpenRoads Designer, and MicroStation Connect.
• Experience with other CAD tools like Google SketchUp Pro or ArcMap GIS is a plus.
• Proficient with Microsoft Windows/Office.
• Willing to travel and work in team environments.
• Valid driver's license or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed drawings and layouts using CAD software.
• Follow directions from Project Managers and Senior Engineers.
• Calculate dimensions, square footage, and material quantities.
• Develop project plans and specifications in design and construction phases.
• Support construction observation, surveying, and materials testing.
• Act as resident project representative in the field when required.
• Communicate progress and issues with supervision and clients.
• Attend project meetings and contribute to reports and proposals.
