Job summary

Apex Engineering Group, Inc. is hiring an Engineering Technician to support the Transportation Group with hybrid work options from any Apex office across ND/MN. The role focuses on CADD drafting, field support, and participation in highway and municipal projects.

Responsibilities include drafting, plan development, quantity calculations, and coordination with Project Managers and Senior Engineers. Travel for field duties and RPR roles may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2-year Associates Degree in Engineering Technology or Technical Degree in Drafting highly desirable.
• 2-5 years of experience preferred.
• Willing to learn AutoCAD/Civil-3D, Bentley OpenRoads Designer, MicroStation Connect.
• Experience with Google SketchUp Pro or ARCMap GIS a plus.
• Proficient with Windows/Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Ability to work in team environments and travel/out-of-town when needed.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed dimensional drawings and design layouts using AutoCAD and MicroStation.
• Support Project Managers and Lead Technicians in developing project plans and specs.
• Calculate dimensions, areas, and quantities for roadways and utilities.
• Learn and apply CADD standards and client requirements.
• Assist with construction observation/inspection, surveying and materials testing.
• Possibly assume resident project representative (RPR) duties in the field.
