Job summary

Apex Engineering Group seeks an Engineering Technician to provide CADD and field support across Transportation projects. The role offers flexible work location from any Apex office and a hybrid setup, with duties spanning design development and field coordination.

You will use AutoCAD, MicroStation and related tools to prepare plans, interact with project teams, and support construction observation as needed. Travel to Minnesota or North Dakota sites may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associates degree in Engineering Technology or Drafting highly desirable.
• 2–5 years of experience preferred.
• Proficient in AutoCAD/Civil-3D, Bentley OpenRoads Designer and MicroStation Connect.
• Experience with SketchUp Pro or ARCMap GIS a plus.
• MS Windows/Office proficiency required.
• Team-oriented and detail focused.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed drawings and layouts using AutoCAD and MicroStation.
• Support PMs/Engineers in developing project plans and specs.
• Calculate dimensions, areas, and quantities for road/utility projects.
• Learn and apply CADD standards and client requirements.
• Potentially act as resident project representative in field.
