Job summary

OrthoCarolina Hickory is seeking a Test and Surgery Scheduler to coordinate surgeries and diagnostic tests with hospitals and facilities, based on physician and patient preferences and insurance requirements. The role supports patients through scheduling, education, and pre-certification processes.

The position may offer remote work options with on-site travel as needed; strong communication with hospitals, staff, and patients is essential to ensure accurate scheduling and patient readiness.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
• Associates or Bachelor's degree preferred.
• At least 1 year of medical office experience.
• High-volume surgery scheduling experience preferred but not required.
• Familiar with insurance companies, CPT and ICD9 codes.

Responsibilities

• Gives general instructions and provides written instructions for procedures.
• Coordinates patient care with hospitals, radiology, anesthesia, and primary care physicians.
• Provides patient teaching on surgical procedures and pre/postoperative care.
• Loads surgeries into Centricity and updates calendar.
• Schedules patient education and medical clearance appointments.
• Obtains second opinions and medical clearance as needed.
• Creates referrals, tasks, post-op appointments and ensures pre-certification.
