Job summary

HOPCo in Florida is seeking an experienced Surgical Scheduler to support an orthopedic surgeon. You will coordinate procedures, pre- and post-op appointments, and ensure smooth communications with patients and physicians.

The role requires strong medical terminology knowledge, confidentiality, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work calmly in a busy clinic. Training and HIPAA compliance are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance processes
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and HIPAA awareness
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
• Experience in customer service and office environment
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work calmly under pressure

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and schedule procedures or surgeries, and pre/post op appointments as designated by physicians
• Interact with patients, physicians and staff, providing timely and responsive information
• Coordinate processes and route paperwork to meet physician and facility requirements
• Initiate and track medical clearances as required by physician
• Request authorizations for procedures, surgeries, ancillary services or medical supplies
• Obtain financial estimates for procedures and supplies
• Complete all tasks and orders in a timely manner
• Scan internal documents into the patient’s medical record
• Maintain courtesy and helpfulness toward patients and families
• Display flexibility in work schedule according to clinic needs
• Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA
• Other duties as assigned
