Job summary

Duke Health Lake Norman Hospital in Mooresville, NC is seeking a Surgery Scheduler to coordinate perioperative activities and ensure accurate scheduling of procedures. You will interact with patients, surgeons, and staff to prepare for surgeries and maintain clear communications throughout the process.

The role requires strong knowledge of medical terminology and CPT/ICD coding, plus experience with Epic or similar scheduling systems.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in a clinical setting or coding/billing setting.
• Experience with Epic or other scheduling systems preferred.
• Knowledge of CPT and ICD coding is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate perioperative scheduling of surgeries.
• Communicate with patients, physicians, and healthcare staff throughout the scheduling process.
• Review referrals, enter referrals and orders into the system, and schedule in the appropriate template.
• Arrange operating room times in coordination with hospitals and surgical centers.
• Verify insurance benefits and obtain prior authorizations as needed.
• Provide clear pre-operative and post-operative instructions to patients.
• Record and manage the surgical schedule and related documentation.
