Job summary

Sargent & Lundy seeks a Substation Engineer to apply and expand your engineering education in a role focused on high voltage and extra-high voltage substations and transmission systems in the Chicago area. You’ll work on design teams and may travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and on-site coordination.

The position offers a hybrid schedule with three days in the office and two days remote, plus a relocation package depending on location.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, or Chemical Engineering; coursework includes coding, 3D modeling, and AI exposure.
• Understanding practical application of electrical engineering and technology in project design.
• Ability to visualize parts in 3D without CAD; proficient with MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Work on project teams with engineers designing new HV and EHV substations and transmission systems.
• Involved in power transmission designs and procurement specifications for major electrical power equipment and related services.
• Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to site locations for construction coordination and field verification.
• Hybrid work arrangement: three days in the office, two days remote.
