Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Substation Engineer 2 in Chicago, IL to join a project team involved in detailed electrical design and project management of high voltage substations.

The role includes conceptualization, planning, execution, troubleshooting, report writing, and knowledge sharing through Communities of Practice, with a hybrid work arrangement (three days in the office, two remote). Some relocation support may be available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical/Mechanical/Aerospace/Chemical engineering or related coursework with 3D modeling and coding experience.
• Knowledge of design techniques for technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and 3D visualization.
• 1+ years experience in the power or electric utility industry.
• Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple projects within budget and time constraints.
• Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Experience reviewing design drawings.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Take an active role in project conceptualization, work planning, and project execution.
• Support assignments involving investigating, trouble-shooting, and solving electrical engineering issues.
• Prepare reports presenting technical and project information in a clear and concise manner.
• Develop career via peer-learning through Communities of Practice.
• May travel to client sites as needed.
• Review design drawings created by others.
