Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to support nuclear power uprate projects, leading calculations and evaluations for major plant systems. You will apply thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics expertise in a nuclear setting.

The role emphasizes preparation of technical reports, client interface, and site walkdowns, with a hybrid work arrangement in the U.S.

Qualifications

• BSME from ABET-accredited program with strong thermodynamics/heat transfer focus.
• 7+ years of experience in the nuclear power industry.
• Experience with nuclear power uprates and turbine retrofit projects.
• Knowledge of mechanical engineering design, codes, and standards.
• Excellent technical report writing and MS Office skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead licensing basis system and component evaluations for nuclear power uprate projects.
• Apply knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics to power plant engineering.
• Prepare and review calculations related to heat balances, pumps, exchangers, and heat sinks.
• Interface with clients and project teams to present technical discussions and project status.
• Attend client meetings and site walkdowns to validate scope and ensure client satisfaction.
