Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with a focus on nuclear power to apply thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics to power plant systems. You will prepare calculations, evaluations, and reports while sizing equipment and optimizing designs for project needs.

The role involves collaboration with project teams, design modifications, and potential travel to client sites for reviews and field verification of designs.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited BSME with strong background in thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics and power engineering.
• 1+ year of experience in nuclear power or MSME in ABET accredited program.
• Ability to prepare calculations and technical reports with clear writing.
• Knowledge of applying mechanical engineering to project design.
• Strong numerical computation and problem solving.
• Proficiency with MS Office.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare calculations, evaluations, and technical reports to support client recommendations.
• Conduct equipment sizing, optimization evaluation, and selection for project needs.
• Support project teams with other mechanical engineers in system design, modification, and analysis of power plant mechanical systems.
• Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and plant site meetings.
