Job summary

Sargent & Lundy seeks a lead Mechanical Engineer to drive multi-discipline project execution in a hybrid work environment. The role emphasizes thermodynamics, heat transfer, and machine design within nuclear settings, with a path for career advancement.

You will own the project performance, develop budgets, schedules, and work plans, review complex calculations and drawings, and mentor junior engineers to ensure safety, quality, and client satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Must be able to obtain US Government security clearance
• Essential skills include thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, machine design, or thermal systems
• 15+ years of progressive mechanical engineering experience, ideally in a nuclear environment
• 5+ years in a lead or liaison role with clients or teams
• Experience with piping, pressure vessels, HVAC, or radioactive material handling systems
• Knowledge of ASME B31 piping, ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code, ASME AG-1
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

• Own all aspects of project performance including safety, schedule, budget, reporting and client experience
• Coordinate resources from multiple disciplines for project execution
• Develop budgets and schedules and monitor progress
• Prepare and review mechanical designs, calculations, equipment specs and drawings
• Engage with vendors to provide clear specifications
• Mentor junior engineers
