Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead licensing basis evaluations for nuclear uprates and apply thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics to power plant projects. The role includes client interface, site walks, and producing technical calculations and reports.

The position offers a hybrid work arrangement with three days in the office and two days remote, in the United States.

Qualifications

• Requires a BSME from an ABET-accredited program with strong thermodynamics, heat transfer and fluid mechanics background.
• 7+ years of experience in the nuclear power industry.
• Experience with nuclear power uprates and/or turbine retrofit projects.
• Excellent technical report writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead licensing basis system and component evaluations for nuclear power uprate projects.
• Apply thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics knowledge to power plant engineering tasks.
• Prepare calculations and reports to support client recommendations.
• Size and optimize equipment for uprate projects.
• Interface with clients and project teams, attend client meetings and site walkdowns.
