Sargent & Lundy in the United States is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to support nuclear power uprate projects through thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics analysis. You will work with major systems, sizes, and plant processes, delivering calculations and reports for client reviews.

The role emphasizes mentoring junior staff, developing proposals, and presenting to clients, with a hybrid work schedule requiring in-office presence three days a week.

Qualifications

• This position requires a BSME from an ABET-accredited program with a strong background in thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics.
• 10+ years of experience in the nuclear power industry.
• Experience with nuclear uprates and/or turbine retrofit projects.
• Excellent technical report writing and calculation skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead licensing basis system and component evaluations for nuclear uprate projects.
• Apply thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics to power plant engineering tasks.
• Prepare calculations for heat balances, pumps, heat exchangers, and heat sinks.
• Develop engineering proposals and cost estimates for clients.
• Mentor junior engineers and review work for accuracy.
• Attend client meetings and site walkdowns to validate scope.
• Interface with clients and project teams on technical discussions and status.
• Promote automation and AI-enabled workflows in engineering tasks.
