Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Nuclear Mechanical Engineer in a Mechanical Analysis Engineering capacity. You will lead evaluations for uprate projects and apply thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics to power plants.

The role involves preparing calculations and reports, interfacing with clients, and presenting project status. A hybrid work arrangement combines in-office and remote work.

Qualifications

• This position requires a BSME from an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission-approved program with a strong academic background and interest in thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics.
• 7 or more years of experience in the nuclear power industry.
• Experience with nuclear power uprates and/or turbine retrofit projects.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead licensing basis system and component evaluations for nuclear power uprate projects.
• Perform calculations related to heat balances, power train pumps, heat exchangers, condenser/heat sink, and plant hazards.
• Prepare task reports and equipment evaluations for client requirements.
• Interface with clients and project teams to present discussions and status.
• Attend client meetings and site walkdowns to validate scope and satisfaction.
