Job summary

The YWCA Greater Harrisburg is seeking a compassionate, dependable Part-Time On-Call Crisis Advocate to provide life-changing support to individuals affected by domestic and sexual violence. This hybrid role requires you to respond within 30 minutes to in-person needs at hospitals, the YWCA, or the police, and to participate in a two-week in-person training program.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in human services, criminal justice or related field, or Associate’s Degree with 2 years of relevant work history.
• Experience in advocacy, social work, or supportive services is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Answering the 24-hour hotline and providing comprehensive service support
• Responding to hospitals for domestic violence, sexual assault, or human trafficking victims
• Conducting shelter assessments, intakes, and shelter orientations for survivors
• Assisting with safety planning and information about rights and services
• Providing crisis intervention and emotional support using trauma-informed practices
• Coordinating referrals to legal, medical, and housing services
• Documenting all client interactions and referrals per agency policies
• Collaborating with law enforcement and medical professionals to ensure comprehensive care
• Maintaining confidentiality and adhering to ethical guidelines
• Attending trainings and meetings to stay current on best practices and updates
