Job summary

YWCA Greater Harrisburg seeks a Crisis Advocate and Counselor to deliver rapid crisis intervention and support for individuals affected by domestic and sexual violence. You will provide hotlines, accompaniments, advocacy, and short-term counseling, plus shelter and outreach services.

The role requires a Bachelor's or an Associate's with relevant experience, a valid driver's license, and clearances. Expect 37.5 hours weekly with on-call shifts, including evenings and overnights, and compensation

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or associate's degree with relevant experience.
• Prior advocacy, social work, or related supportive services experience.
• Must have a reliable vehicle and valid driver's license; mileage reimbursed.
• Current FBI, Child Abuse, and State Police clearances required.

Responsibilities

• Respond to crisis needs via hotline, walk-ins, accompaniments, and crisis coverage.
• Provide individual and group counseling, advocacy, referrals, and outreach.
• Maintain counseling caseload and complete timely documentation and reports.
• Provide shelter support, intakes, room inspections, and activities.
• Facilitate support groups and assist with training of staff and volunteers.
• Provide overnight, holiday, and occasional evening crisis coverage.
• Maintain confidentiality and support DV/SA awareness activities.
• Participate in meetings, case reviews, trainings, and program duties.
