Job summary

Houston Area Women's Center in Houston, TX is seeking a Part-time Crisis Response Advocate to provide crisis intervention and support to survivors of domestic and sexual violence. The role involves hospital accompaniment, 24-hour hotlines, chat, and information/referral services, on a hybrid schedule during Saturday and Sunday shifts.

The position requires a 4-year degree, strong communication skills, and the ability to travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences Psychology, Counseling, Public Health, Sociology, Social Work, or Criminal Justice.
• Two years of experience in a social services setting.
• English or English/Spanish bilingual preferred.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook) and internal databases.
• Valid Texas driver’s license with reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Provide hospital accompaniment, crisis intervention, emotional support, and information/referral.
• Deliver 24/7 crisis hotline and chat support as needed.
• Conduct danger assessments and create safety plans.
• Coordinate shelter placement and emergency transportation as needed.
• Attend monthly trainings and department meetings.
• Report suspected abuse to protective services when appropriate.
