Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Structural Engineer – Project Lead to guide a team of engineers on nuclear facility projects, including SMR and upgrade work. This hybrid role offers exposure to design, client interfacing, and delivery of safe, reliable structures for new and existing plants.

The position requires ABET-accredited Civil Engineering degree, 10+ years of structural design experience, and proficiency with STAAD, SAP2000, SAFE, STRUDL, or ANSYS; PE or SE license

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering with emphasis in Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• 10+ years of experience in design and analysis of industrial/heavy commercial or nuclear facility structures.
• Proficiency with STAAD, SAP2000, SAFE, STRUDL, or ANSYS.
• Proficiency with design codes and standards such as ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI; excellent written and verbal communication; PE or SE license.

Responsibilities

• Guide a team of structural engineers and interface with clients and other disciplines.
• Direct preparation and review of design calculations, specifications, reports and drawings; support designers with drawing development.
• Supervise and mentor others in the development of quality engineering deliverables.
• Perform the structural analysis and design of steel frames, concrete members, and foundations.
• Travel to client/vendor offices for design reviews and site verification.
