Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead design efforts for a team of engineers and designers focused on heavy industrial plant projects. You will guide detailed design, perform calculations, and develop system schematics while coordinating with clients, project managers, and suppliers.

The role requires ABET-accredited ME education, 10+ years in related design work, and leadership experience. This is a hybrid position with in-office work 3 days per week in Chicago area.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• Ten+ years experience designing mechanical systems for heavy industrial plants (power, oil & gas, chemical).
• Three+ years leading an engineering design team through all project phases.
• PE license is required or clearly in process.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical engineering design efforts for a team of engineers and designers.
• Investigate, troubleshoot, and solve a wide variety of mechanical engineering issues.
• Act as Mechanical team lead coordinating detailed design phases.
• Develop integrated system designs and perform supporting calculations.
• Prepare technical specifications and engineering studies.
