Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineering lead to drive design efforts for a team of engineers and designers in a hybrid work setting. You will tackle challenging issues, develop integrated systems, and prepare equipment specs and studies for heavy industrial projects.

The role requires an ABET-accredited ME degree, 10+ years in mechanical design, and PE licensing, with a preference for a Master’s degree.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program is required; Master’s degree preferred.
• Ten+ years in mechanical design for heavy industrial plants (power/oil & gas/chemical) with integrated systems focus.
• 3+ years leading an engineering design team through all project phases.
• Experience selecting equipment, piping materials, control philosophy, sizing calculations and specs.
• PE license is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical engineering design efforts for a team of engineers and designers.
• Investigate, trouble-shoot, and solve a wide range of mechanical issues.
• Act as the Mechanical team lead for detailed design phases and workflows.
• Develop integrated systems designs and supporting calculations.
• Prepare specs for mechanical equipment and engineering studies.
• Review work by others and guide project teams, clients, and suppliers.
• Mentor less experienced engineers and foster knowledge sharing within Communities of Practice.
