Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Mechanical Engineering team lead to drive design efforts for heavy industrial plants, including power, oil & gas, or chemical projects. You will mentor engineers, coordinate detailed design phases, develop integrated system designs, and prepare specifications and calculations.

This role supports collaboration across clients and suppliers in a hybrid work model requiring in-office presence three days a week.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program is required; Master's preferred.
• PE License preferred.
• Five+ years in design of mechanical engineering systems for heavy industrial plants (power, oil & gas, or chemical) with integrated, detailed design focus.
• Lead role in preliminary engineering studies evaluating multiple solutions.
• Strong technical writing and BOM/equipment lists for estimating.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical engineering design efforts for a team of engineers and designers.
• Investigate, troubleshoot, and solve mechanical engineering issues.
• Coordinate design phases and prepare technical specifications and supporting calculations.
• Provide guidance to engineers, PMs, client personnel, and suppliers to ensure timely design.
• Review existing facilities for upgrades and present findings.
