Job summary

Essentia Health seeks a Laboratory Manager to lead operations across multiple locations, with hybrid/remote arrangements and monthly on-site requirements. The role requires MLS/CLIA-qualified leadership and oversees staff, budgets, and quality initiatives.

The successful candidate will ensure regulatory compliance, supervise daily workflow, and collaborate with departments to maintain high patient care standards.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a four-year degree in Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) OR meets CLIA guidelines for complexity of lab testing.
• Minimum of 5 years in a hospital or clinic laboratory including 2 years of leadership experience.
• Experience developing and enforcing lab policies and procedures.
• Ability to lead continuous quality management and process improvement initiatives.
• Licensure/certification per state requirements (ASCP or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Oversee operations of clinic and hospital laboratories.
• Manage laboratory staff including hiring, onboarding, scheduling, and evaluations.
• Develop and maintain laboratory policies, procedures, and budgets.
• Lead quality management and process improvement initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards (CLIA, etc.).
• Interact with patients when needed and build client relationships.
