Job summary

Johnson Service Group, Inc. in Houston, TX seeks an Import Team Lead to oversee import operations, lead a team of import professionals, and act as a senior resource for clients and internal stakeholders.

The role offers a hybrid/remote schedule and professional growth within a global logistics setting. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years in import or customs brokerage, strong regulatory knowledge, and experience guiding high-volume, multi-account operations while maintaining strict compliance

Qualifications

• 5+ years of import, customs brokerage, and/or freight forwarding experience.
• Experience leading a team of import professionals and managing multiple accounts.
• Strong knowledge of customs regulations, tariff classification, and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of import specialists and support staff.
• Oversee day-to-day import operations, customs clearance, documentation, and compliance.
• Ensure adherence to U.S. customs regulations, tariff classifications, and documentation requirements.
• Oversee freight forwarding activities, including freight movement, quotations, and coordination with overseas agents and vendors.
• Serve as a senior point of contact for key clients and resolve complex operational issues.
• Review import documentation and clearance activity for accuracy and compliance.
• Monitor reporting and identify opportunities for process improvement and increased efficiency.
• Develop and maintain SOPs and provide ongoing training and knowledge sharing.
• Support client billing, vendor payments, and other administrative functions as needed.
