UNC Health in Chapel Hill, NC, is seeking a Care Access Specialist to join the team in a hybrid, 40-hour work week. The role focuses on patient registration, scheduling outpatient appointments, and coordinating communication between patients, staff, and physicians.

Responsibilities include verifying insurance demographics, managing referrals, and handling messages in Epic within a busy outpatient setting. The position emphasizes accurate information and excellent customer service.

Formación

• Three years of customer service and/or clerical experience.
• High school diploma or GED required; higher-level degree may satisfy this requirement.

Responsabilidades

• Provides first contact for patients by phone or in person with courteous, professional service.
• Verifies key patient information (insurance, demographics) to ensure accurate registration, scheduling, and billing.
• Schedules patient appointments and communicates cancellations to providers as needed.
• Manages referrals for multiple clinics and adheres to referral policies.
• Answers calls, routes messages, and uses Epic for messaging and scheduling tasks.
• Supports QA and accuracy by reducing errors and assisting coworkers as a team player.
• Precepts new coworkers and handles patient messages and recalls in the clinic workflow.
• Performs other administrative duties as needed.
