Jacobs in California is seeking a Mid-Level Building Mechanical Engineer to contribute to infrastructure projects, focusing on HVAC, plumbing and fire protection for water and wastewater clients. You will design building mechanical systems, perform calculations, develop drawings, and coordinate with architects, vendors and clients while mentoring junior engineers.

A PE license or ability to obtain within one year is required; 5+ years of relevant experience is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive building mechanical engineering and project delivery experience.
• PE license or ability to obtain within one year.
• Strong data analysis, problem solving and multitasking abilities; proficient MS Office skills.

Responsibilities

• Design complete HVAC systems, central plants and building services per codes and standards.
• Coordinate with architects, engineers and contractors; mentor junior staff.
• Lead design calculations for loads, sizing and energy analyses; support field staff during construction.
• Prepare drawings, specs, basis of design reports and technical memoranda.
