Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking an HVAC Pre Sales Field Engineer to support sales teams with accurate site surveys, equipment assessments, and pre-sales design deliverables. You will collaborate with COE engineers, local branches, and subcontractors to ensure proposals are well-informed, standardized, and delivered on time.

The role requires extensive HVAC experience, CAD skills, and proficiency with Salesforce, SharePoint, and Office 365.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• 5+ years field HVAC experience or 8+ years HVAC sales experience.
• Experience with IP networking (Layer 3) practicals.
• Experience with CAD software for drawings and layouts.
• Strong written and oral communication skills and interpersonal abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and SharePoint; ability to learn JCI platforms (Salesforce, Selection Navigator, NxGen).

Responsibilities

• Conduct timely site surveys and on-site equipment assessments for pre-sales.
• Coordinate with subcontractors for bid quotes and pricing proposals.
• Prepare COE survey documentation using Salesforce, Office 365, and SharePoint.
• Review project costing estimates with local installation/ops before handoff to sales.
• Produce site survey forms and floorplan drawings with device placement per standard processes.
• Maintain knowledge of AHJ regulations and subcontractor capabilities.
• Support pre-installation scope debriefs to enable smooth handoff to installation teams.
• Act as a local on-site contact to resolve customer issues.
• Keep stakeholders informed on scope, cost, risk, and next steps.
• Collaborate with COE engineers, operations, and sellers to keep projects moving.
