Job summary

Johnson Controls, Inc. seeks an HVAC Pre Sales Field Engineer to support sales teams with on-site surveys, equipment and control system assessments, and design deliverables for pre-sales activities.

You will collaborate with COE application engineers, local branches, subcontractors, and operations to ensure accurate proposals, standardized drawings, and timely handoffs to installation teams. The role requires HVAC field experience or strong sales background, IP networking and CAD skills, and

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 5 years of field HVAC operations/installation/service or 8+ years HVAC sales experience.
• Five years of field HVAC experience including controls, equipment, service, and/or maintenance programs.
• Experience with IP networking basics (Layer 3).
• Experience with computer aided drafting software (CAD).
• Strong written and oral communication skills and interpersonal abilities.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making in stressful environments.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and SharePoint.
• Ability to learn JCI platforms including Salesforce, Selection Navigator, NxGen, and related tools.
• Strong time management and multi-tasking abilities.
• Ability to drive to customer and Johnson Controls locations; occasional travel.

Responsibilities

• Conduct timely, accurate site surveys of mechanical equipment or control systems to support pre-sales.
• Coordinate with subcontractors for bid quotes and pricing proposals.
• Prepare and deliver COE survey documentation using Salesforce, Office 365, and SharePoint.
• Review project costing estimates with local installation or operations management before handoff to sales.
• Create site survey forms and floorplan drawings with device placement per standards.
• Stay aware of AHJ requirements, regulations, and permitting.
