Job summary

Ferguson is hiring a knowledgeable Counter Sales Associate to advise plumbing and HVAC contractor customers. You’ll leverage product expertise to help customers make informed purchasing decisions that align with our sales strategy and drive growth.

The role emphasizes relationship-building, strong communication, and delivering exceptional service in a fast-paced environment. Expect Monday–Friday daytime hours with safety-focused operations and a competitive benefits package.

Qualifications

• 0–3 years of experience in customer service or sales.
• Prior experience in plumbing/HVAC or related industry preferred.
• Sales mindset with ability to meet goals and influence purchasing decisions.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Engage customers at the counter, on the phone, and via email to understand needs and recommend solutions.
• Serve as product expert by applying knowledge of plumbing, HVAC and related products.
• Drive sales growth by upselling, cross-selling and promoting programs.
• Locate parts using catalogs, computer systems and manufacturer databases.
• Process transactions accurately while delivering a positive customer experience.
• Collaborate with Outside Sales to support account growth and seamless service.
• Manage special orders, follow up on orders, back-orders and delivery timelines.
• Maintain a professional, organized counter environment reflecting quality and service.
• Assist with inventory management, cycle counts and stock organization.
• Adhere to safety regulations, including PPE usage.
