Job summary

Trane Technologies in Flint, MI seeks an Application Engineer II (Equipment) to drive equipment selection, pricing, and submittals across projects. You will validate configurations, review estimates, and support sales while ensuring alignment with budget objectives.

The role requires HVAC project mgmt or estimating experience, a related engineering degree, and flexibility to work onsite with some location options. A valid driver's license is required.

Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 2 years in HVAC project management or estimating, or 5 years with no degree.
• Familiarity with HVAC systems and temperature controls preferred.
• Willingness to work outside normal hours; valid driver’s license for 12+ months with clean record.

Responsibilities

• Optimize/validate equipment: size, configuration, voltage, options, etc., from plans/specs.
• Evaluate potential cost savings and cost issues on projects.
• Validate project scope, plans and specs; plan EQ/VPP dollar breaks; confirm quantities.
• Prepare submittals; support sales; conduct job-cost discussions; coordinate revisions.
• Negotiate prices with vendors to stay competitive; stay abreast of industry trends.
• Prepare correct equipment for order entry; verify pricing; reconcile job costs.
• Provide post-sale technical support for installation, startup and warranty.
