Job summary

Trane Technologies in Fishers, IN is seeking an Application Engineer II (Equipment) to lead the equipment portion of complex projects. You will validate equipment selection, pricing, discounts and submittals, contributing to budget objectives and project success.

This role requires reviewing plans and specs, negotiating with vendors, supporting sales, and providing post-order technical support through installation, startup and warranty service to ensure customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 2+ years in HVAC project management or estimating; or 5+ years if no degree.
• Ability to work outside normal hours and valid driver’s license.
• Familiarity with HVAC systems and temperature controls preferred.

Responsibilities

• Optimize/validate HVAC equipment selection, sizing, voltage, and options.
• Evaluate project cost savings and potential cost problems.
• Validate scope via plans, specs, and transition docs; plan EQ/VPP dollars.
• Support sales with preliminary/final submittals and hold cost meetings.
• Negotiate with vendors to optimize expenses and lead times.
• Prepare equipment for order entry and reconcile job costs.
• Provide post-order technical support during installation, startup and warranty.
