Job summary

Trane Technologies in New Jersey is hiring an Application Engineer II (Equipment). You will be responsible for the equipment portion of projects, validating the equipment selection, pricing, discounts, and submittals, and contributing to the strategy and performance of budget objectives.

You will evaluate HVAC equipment configurations, support sales with submittals, negotiate with vendors, and provide post-order technical support including start-up and warranty services.

Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Construction or Engineering Technology.
• Candidates without a 4-year degree are encouraged to apply; practical experience prioritized.
• Familiarity with HVAC Systems and/or Temperature Controls preferred.
• Flexibility to work outside normal hours as required.
• Must have a valid driver’s license with clean record.

Responsibilities

• Optimize/validate equipment selection: size, configuration, voltage, options per plans and specs.
• Evaluate potential cost savings and cost problems on projects.
• Validate project scope by reviewing plans, specs, and quantities; plan EQ/VPP breaks.
• Support sales with submittals and coordinate cost consensus meetings.
• Negotiate prices with vendors to optimize expenses.
• Prepare equipment for order entry and reconcile job costs.
• Provide post-order technical support for installation, start-up and warranty services.
