Job summary

Baker Distributing Company is seeking a Counter Sales Associate to run our sales counter at one of our wholesale HVAC locations. You will deliver strong customer service in a sales-driven environment, manage showroom stock, and process sales orders with upsell opportunities.

Responsibilities include assisting walk-in customers, coordinating parts sourcing and shipping, maintaining stock levels, and upholding safety standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; equivalent experience may be considered.
• Demonstrated experience with HVAC equipment in a wholesale distribution setting.
• Background in sales, operations, purchasing, or inventory management preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on customer service, problem solving, and relationship building.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic, fast paced environment; accommodations provided as needed.
• Interest in continuous learning, mentorship and leadership.
• Mechanical or technical experience preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office or similar tools; assistive tech may be used.

Responsibilities

• Represent Baker Distributing Company as a leader in the industry, maximizing sales.
• Interact with internal and outside salespeople, vendors and contractors.
• Maintain showroom merchandising and restock products.
• Resolve customer relations problems with dealers and end users.
• Complete sales order process and upsell related items.
• Serve walk-in and phone customers and assist with sourcing and shipping parts.
• Provide product/service information via computer, catalog, phone, or references.
• Arrange stock on shelves and keep merchandise orderly.
• Apply suggestive selling techniques and upsell opportunities.
• Follow safety protocols and wear PPE as required.
• Report safety hazards and participate in safety trainings.
• Ensure a clean, safe workspace and proper storage of products.
• Conduct outgoing sales or service calls and handle complaints.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
