Job summary

R.E. Michel Company is seeking an entry-level Counter Sales I in Fairfax, VA. The full-time, non-exempt role handles customer service, order entry, invoicing, and assisting with loading deliveries to customers’ vehicles.

The position requires basic product knowledge, computer skills, and the ability to lift and stock items. Pre-employment screens are required; the schedule is typically Monday–Friday with occasional Saturdays.

Qualifications

• Entry-level duties include assisting customers, answering phones, and processing orders.
• Proficiency with computer systems and Prophet 21 is preferred.
• Must read invoices, stock numbers, and descriptions to locate items.

Responsibilities

• Provide fast and friendly customer service in person or by telephone.
• Enter customer orders in the system on the same day received.
• Pull orders from warehouse and load into delivery truck or staging area.
• Process paperwork including invoices, CODs, vendor POs, and shipping/receiving forms.
• Collect payment via cash or credit card following money handling procedures.
• Process returns and warranties the same day they are received.
• Maintain and restock self-service areas; keep displays neat.
• Promote items and stay updated on product information; educate customers.
