Job summary

Trane Technologies in Columbus, OH is hiring for Application Engineer II (Equipment). In this role you will be responsible for the equipment portion of projects, including validating selection, pricing, discounts, and submittals, and will be accountable for budget objectives.

You will optimize equipment configuration (size, voltage, options) after reviewing plans and estimates; identify cost savings; support sales with submittals; coordinate job costs; and provide post‑order technical support,

Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Construction or Engineering Technology, or related field with two years HVAC project management or estimating experience (or five years without a degree).
• Familiarity with HVAC systems and/or temperature controls preferred.
• Willingness to work outside normal hours; valid driver's license for at least 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Optimize/validate equipment selection (size, configuration, voltage, options) for HVAC projects.
• Review plans, estimates, and proposals; identify cost savings or problems; plan EQ/VPP dollar breaks; validate quantities and configurations.
• Support sales with preliminary or final submittals; coordinate submittals and job cost discussions; negotiate with vendors.
• Provide post-order technical support including installation, start-up, and warranty services.
