Job summary

Centro, Inc. in Davenport, IA is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to support associates and leaders in a stable manufacturing environment. The role blends office work with production-floor interaction to sustain a high-performing workplace.

You will manage leaves of absence, payroll-related tasks, employee records, audits, and compliance while advancing engagement, development, and recognition programs. A Bachelor’s in HR and HRIS experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Manufacturing/industrial experience preferred in HR context.
• Knowledge of employment laws, leave administration, employee relations and HR best practices.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills required.
• Experience with HRIS, payroll systems, and MS Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Support employees and leaders with HR questions, policies, and workplace concerns.
• Manage leaves of absence, including FMLA administration.
• Process employee changes, pay adjustments, new hires, and terminations.
• Maintain employee records and ensure HR data is accurate.
• Assist with payroll, audits, and compliance activities.
• Support performance improvement, coaching, and employee development efforts.
• Handle unemployment claims and related documentation.
• Help drive employee engagement, retention, and recognition programs.

What We're Looking For

• Manufacturing, industrial, distribution, or similar industry experience strongly preferred
• Working knowledge of employment laws, leave administration, employee relations, and HR best practices
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
• Experience with HRIS, payroll systems, and Microsoft Office applications
• Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field preferred

Work Environment & Essential Functions

This position is primarily office-based but requires regular interaction with Associates and leaders throughout a manufacturing facility. The HR Generalist spends time both at a desk and on the production floor, building relationships, resolving issues, and supporting business needs. The role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain confidentiality, and exercise sound judgment in sensitive situations. Regular computer use, data analysis, document preparation, employee meetings, and occasional walking through manufacturing areas are required. Normal hours are Monday through Friday, with flexibility to support business needs when necessary.
