Job summary

North Carolina Department of Adult Correction is seeking an HR Technician I to support the Business Operations HR team in Raleigh. The role covers recruitment, onboarding, benefits, payroll actions, and leave administration across 375+ employees within five sections.

The position requires collaboration with Temporary Solutions for 20+ temporary staff and guidance on FMLA, disability, and workers’ compensation. A strong customer-service mindset is essential.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Human Resources or related field; or High school diploma with 2+ years of progressive HR experience.
• Experience with SAP and the NC Integrated HR-Payroll system.
• Recruitment skills including job fairs, postings, and community outreach.
• Strong communication and customer service in a diverse environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage HR processes across the employee lifecycle: recruitment, onboarding, benefits, time and leave administration, payroll actions, and separation procedures.
• Oversee position management and maintain accurate personnel records for permanent and temporary staff, ensuring policy compliance.
• Serve as primary liaison with Temporary Solutions for 20+ temporary employees in Support Services.
• Provide guidance on HR policies, FMLA, disability programs, and workers’ compensation.
