Job summary

Jerry.ai is seeking an HR Operations Lead to own multi-state compliance, policy drafting, and payroll/benefits queries with hands-on accountability. You will drive the annual policy updates and audits, and mentor the Payroll/HR Administration team.

In this role, you will shape AI integration into HR operations, reducing busywork and enabling focus on high-impact decisions in a fast-paced startup environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• At least 2 years of real, hands-on HR generalist experience, including drafting policy, payroll, and compliance filings.
• Genuine in-house, multi-state compliance experience.
• Comfortable in a small, high-intensity team handling payroll, benefits, and compliance directly.
• Excited to build with AI in HR ops.

Responsibilities

• Own multi-state compliance: track law changes, draft policy updates, and ensure implementation across classifications and pay ranges.
• Lead annual compliance audit and handbook refresh within first 90 days.
• Handle escalated payroll, benefits, and leave questions that require experienced judgment.
• Review and unblock work of Payroll and HR Administration teams.
• Rearchitect HR ops processes with an AI-native mindset to improve functioning.
• Grow into day-to-day HR operations management over time.
