Job summary

The Cato Corporation is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to join our Charlotte, NC offices. You will handle associate relations, leave administration, and ensure compliance with labor laws while maintaining strict confidentiality.

You will partner with management across corporate, distribution centers, and stores to resolve issues, support payroll relations, workers’ comp, and training on HR topics, while contributing to special projects and process improvements.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in associate relations as an HR Generalist.
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
• Strong knowledge of employment law.
• Commitment to confidentiality and integrity.
• Proficient in Word, Excel and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance on associate relations issues across corporate, DC and stores.
• Maintain knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and enforce policies.
• Resolve payroll issues with Payroll Department.
• Support workers’ compensation claims with Risk Management.
• Manage leave requests including FMLA, ADA, Military, and Personal Leave.
• Coordinate unemployment claims with external vendors.
• Provide HR topic training and information on employment laws.
• Assist with EEOC, DOL and OSHA complaints investigations.
• Contribute to ad-hoc and cross-functional projects.
• Support special projects as assigned.
