Job summary

McNICHOLS CO. is seeking a proactive HR Generalist to support over 325 associates across 20 locations nationwide. The role covers onboarding, benefits administration, payroll, leave management, record-keeping, and compliance in a fast-paced corporate HR environment.

You will partner with managers, administer leave programs, coordinate benefits, and assist with audits and overall employee engagement. This position offers stability within a national metal supply company.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
• 3–5 years of Human Resources experience with broad responsibilities including payroll, benefits, leave administration, and compliance.
• Knowledge of employment law and HR best practices.
• Confidential handling of employee records.
• Advanced proficiency with HRIS and Microsoft Office.
• Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Collaborative and detail-oriented with a focus on employee experience.
• Experience in manufacturing, distribution, or operations environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day HR administration and accurate employee records.
• Process lifecycle transactions: hires, transfers, promotions, leaves, separations, updates.
• Maintain HRIS records and compliance documentation.
• Support employee engagement initiatives to boost morale and culture.
• Serve as contact for HR policies, benefits, payroll, and leave programs.
• Administer leave of absence programs and return-to-work tracking.
• Coordinate benefits administration and annual enrollment.
• Support audits for 401k, payroll, I-9, and records.
• Assist with workers' compensation claims and coordination with vendors.
• Coordinate onboarding programs and new-hire orientations.
• Partner with managers on performance management.
• Maintain HR communications and wellness information.
• Process payroll as needed.
• Contribute to special HR projects.
